Cats with limited kidney function (renal insufficiency) require special food with reduced phosphorus and protein content. A typical symptom of kidney issues is reduced ability to filter phosphorus, for example. Additionally, the kidney's ability to filter specific end products of protein metabolism is also decreased. High protein content can therefore limit kidney function. The proteins provided in INTEGRA® PROTECT are of particularly high quality to fully meet cats' protein needs despite the reduced content. Moreover, limited kidney activity requires a slight increase in vitamin D3 content in INTEGRA® PROTECT Renal. High acceptance and easy digestibility are distinguishing features of this product. To ensure optimal food supply, if possible, offer your cat the daily food ration divided into 3 different meals. Especially in the case of chronic renal insufficiency, it's important to provide this diet exclusively throughout the cat's life. Adding 'normal' food products, meal leftovers, and other supplementary foods should be avoided to not compromise the success of the treatment.
